"VIBRANT VISIONS OF FLORIDA" CHALLENGE
Challenge Rules:
1. The fabric must be purchased from a participating quilt shop from the list provided with these rules. The packet of fabric must contain a fat quarter of each of the five chosen colors: rose, violet, peach, yellow and green. The individual quilt shop will chose the prints, solids, etc., which they determine best interprets the "Vibrant Visions" of our state. A recognizable amount of all five challenge fabrics must be used as an integral part of the entry and must appear in the body of the quilt. Any amount of up to five (5) other fabrics may be used.
2. An Ocean Waves block must appear somewhere in the quilt. Embellishments are welcomed and encouraged, but must be firmly attached. Any entry arriving with loose parts will be promptly returned to the maker. Entries are limited to quilts: surface fabric, batting and backing with hand or machine quilting to hold them together.
3. The quilt may be any shape, but must have a 4-inch wide sleeve attached to the top back of the quilt for hanging. Quilts must be at least 18 inches per side or 72 inches minimum perimeter total, but not more than 40 inches per side or 160 inches maximum perimeter total. Irregularly-shaped entries have a minimum 72 inches and maximum 160 inches perimeter and must provide easy hanging with all necessary support to hang flat.
4. Entries must be clean and odor-free or will be promptly returned to the maker.
5. An identification label containing the same full name and address that appears on the entry form must be securely fastened to each entry.
6. The quilt must withstand travel without any special packing.
7. Quilts will be judged by Madeline Hawley an NQA certified judge and prizes awarded as follows:
First Place: $200 Check sponsored by S.E.W. Studio of Naples, Fl
Second Place $150 Check sponsored by Susie Q’s Quilts of North Fort Myers, Fl
Third Place $75 Gift Certificate sponsored by Quilt Lovers’ Hangout, North Fort Myers, Fl
Winners will be notified no later than Thursday, January 10, 2008.
8. Each entry must be accompanied by a signed copy of the official entry form and a $ 10.00 entry fee not later than November 30, 2007. Check or money order is to be payable to SWFQG, which covers insured UPS return shipping with tracking for entrant's security, within the shipping carton. Entry must include the actual packet the fabric came in with the approved shop's address and business card. For entry delivery confirmation, enclose a SASE.
9. Participants may enter no more than three (3) quilts. Each entry must be from a separate fabric packet, with the package, shop's address and business card included with each entry.
