 1. Large Appliqué (a circumference of 300" or more)

 

 2. Large Pieced (a circumference of 300" or more) 
 
 3. Large  Mixed --Appliqué/Pieced (a circumference of 300" or more)
 
 4. Intermediate Appliqué (circumference of 200" to 299")
 
 5. Intermediate Pieced (circumference of 200" to 299") 
 
 6. Intermediate Mixed-- Appliqué/Pieced (circumference of 200" to 299")
 
 7. Small Appliqué (circumference of less than 200")
 
 8. Small Pieced (circumference of less than 200")

 

 9. Small Mixed--Appliqué/Pieced (circumference of less than 200”)
 
10. Wall Hanging—small--Appliqué/Pieced (circumference of 120" to 160"; may be embellished)
 
11. Wall Hanging—large--Appliqué/Pieced (circumference of 161" to 250"; may be embellished)
 
12. Miniature Judged Traditional Quilts (circumference of 100" or less) All aspects are in scale with a full size quilt. Block size may not exceed 4" on any side.
NOTE: Donated auction miniatures need not comply with rules as long as the maker does not want them judged. 
 
13. Miniature Judged Non-Traditional Quilt (circumference of 100" or less) The design must be in scale with the overall size. (Think:  landscape, pictorial, etc.)

14. Group (any size) This category is for a quilt on which three or more people have worked.  It would include such quilts as bee quilts and round robin quilts.

 

15.  Large Partners (a circumference of 300" or more) This category is for a quilt on which two people have worked—such as: one person constructs the quilt and one person does the quilting or two people collaborate on the quilt in any way. The quilting can be professionally quilted or not. It can be quilted by hand or machine.
 
 16.  Small Partners (a circumference of 299" or less) This category is for a quilt on which two people have worked—such as: one person constructs the quilt and one person does the quilting or two people collaborate on the quilt in any way. The quilting can be professionally quilted or not. It can be quilted by hand or machine.
 
17.  Small Art Quilts Innovative/Contemporary    (circumference of 160" or less) These are quilts of original design made with artistic intent that use color, design, and construction techniques to create a work that expands beyond traditional quilts. An original work is composed by the maker.  It is a fresh design or style without copying the works of others. The decision to enter this category is left to the discretion of the entrant. 

 

18.  Large Art Quilts Innovative/Contemporary   (circumference of 161" to 250") These are quilts of original design made with artistic intent that use color, design, and construction techniques to create a work that expands beyond traditional quilts. An original work is composed by the maker. It is a fresh design or style without copying the works of others. The decision to enter this category is left to the discretion of the entrant.
 
19. Celebration  (any size) A quilt that is made for a specific remembrance. This might be for the birth of a baby, an anniversary, wedding, or other special occasion.  

 

 20. Other Techniques (any size)  Quilts included in this category would be whole cloth, tied, redwork, trapunto, stenciled, crazy quilts, yo-yo quilts, embroidered quilts and/or heavily embellished quilts, cathedral window quilts, Christmas tree skirts, and quilts with very special techniques.

 

21. Wearable Art (pieced, appliquéd, embroidered or other techniques creating clothing with some quilting) 

 

 22. Young Designer Quilts (any size) To qualify, the young designer must be 18 years of age or younger. All quilts entered in this category will be given a ribbon. Quilts eligible for this category may instead be entered in any of the categories appropriate for the quilt, however; when entering one of those categories, the rules for that category apply. Quilts in the young designer category are not judged. Quilts entered in this category shall be primarily the work of the entrant, but assistance by an adult is acceptable without requiring the quilt to be entered in the 2 person or Group categories. Any quilter lucky enough to be in the age range to enter in this category does not have to be a guild member or pay the non member entree fee.
