FAQ's about the State Challenge Quilts
This is just a reminder to start or keep working on your Vibrant Visions of Florida State Challenge quilt! To clarify some questions I have been asked over the past few months, I thought I'd just outline some of them here:
Which Ocean Waves block is to be used? ANY pieced block called Ocean Waves that you find will be okay, since there seem to be several version as is true of so many blocks.
Does the Ocean Waves block need to be on the front of the quilt? Yes, it does - that is the quilt area to be judged.
Can I use any fabric on the back of the quilt, in other words an 11th fabric? Yes, once again, the front is what is judged.
Can the quilt be another shape but square? Yes, as is stated in the rules, just as long as there is a 4 inch sleeve for hanging, with supports of some kind to make the quilt hang flat. Minimum perimeter is 72 inches total, maximum perimeter is 160 inches total.
When is the quilt due for submission? Quilt entries must be received beginning November 1 and no later than November 30th, 2007. You must include the Entry Form, the packaging from the challenge fabrics, the shop's business card where you purchased the packet, and $10.00 for each entry. You may enter no more than three (3) quilts in the Challenge and each quilt must be from a separate fabric packet purchase.
I hope many of you are entering the Challenge - the more, the merrier!
Happy stitching,
Linda Engelbrecht
